So, I was tagged by the wonderful Chelsey to do this tag. This is my first tag that I’ve done on a blog before, how very exciting! It’s a milestone for Lydia over here!
This tag is all about that list of books in every book lover’s life: the to-be-read list. I’m sure we all have one, whether it’s a physical list or just a list that we keep mentally.
1. How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
Through a combination of Goodreads and Amazon. When I actually own a book, I add it to my “owned and unread” shelf on Goodreads; that’s my official, high-priority TBR. On Amazon I keep a book wishlist.* Although I don’t actually buy from Amazon anymore, I find its wishlist function useful as both an aid to remind me what books I’m interested in buying, and as something to direct my family to when they want ideas for any birthday or Christmas presents.
2. Is your TBR mostly print or eBook?
Print. I don’t own an e-reader!
3. How do you determine which book to read next from your TBR?
Mood! The only exceptions are if somebody has lent me a book, in which case I want to read and return it quickly, or if I’m theming my reading at that time, in which case I pick a book that I’m in the mood for that also fits into that theme.
4. A book that’s been on your TBR the longest?
A Dance With Dragons: After the Feast is probably the book I’ve owned the longest but not yet read. Must get around to it this year.
5. A book you recently added to your TBR?
Two books that I bought a few days ago: In the Devil’s Garden by Stewart Lee Allen and The Classics Magpie by Jane Hood.
6. A book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover?
The Classics Magpie was partly, although not entirely, influenced by its pretty cover. But mainly the many Penguin Clothbound Classics that are on my Amazon wishlist, which are basically there because of their covers. I’m weak.
7. A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading?
I don’t think that I have any of these??? Excepting the odd special edition of a book that I want to own because I’m shallow, but would want to read in a normal paperback edition. But does that really count?
8. An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for?
None. I’m very behind the times at the moment when it comes to soon-to-be published books.
9. A book on your TBR that basically everyone has read but you?
I feel like I’m one of the very few people (who read the series) who isn’t yet up-to-date with A Song of Ice and Fire. Desperately avoiding spoilers everywhere!
10. A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?
I’m not sure. I have many books on my TBR that have been recommended to me, but not necessarily any recommendations that have been made to me by lots of different people.
11. A book on your TBR that you’re dying to read?
All of them! But I’m possibly most excited for If Beale Street Could Talk, because Baldwin is my ultimate ♥
12. How many books are on your Goodreads TBR?
Thirteen. As previously stated my Goodreads TBR is limited to books that I already own, and it’s at a number that I’m happy with at the moment. I get overwhelmed if I own more than about 15 books that I haven’t read, so I try to keep it at about 10-15!
Thank you to Chelsey for tagging me! I’m not tagging anyone specifically for this, but if you’re reading this and you want to do it, then consider yourself tagged! Go forth and answer these questions and let me know if you do (:
*A wishlist that I’m not going to give out publicly, because nope to that whole idea.
